2024 Great Western Ski Trip

Big Sky Montana

A small group of 11, shown above, gathered at Big Sky in Montana for a week of skiing and merriment. When we arrived, the snow base was less than 30 inches. Nonetheless, due to excellent management by the resort staff, skiing was very good on our first day, February 24. It snowed about a foot on Sunday night and skiing was much improved for the next 3 days, with a great powder day on Monday. It snowed another foot later in the week, making for another great power day after the snow. We had many great in house meals prepared by our skilled chefs, Sandy Dunlap (famous for his barbecued game meats and this year leg of lamb), Rusty Martin (Deer Valley Chili) and Jim Lawrie (this year specializing in Pacific Cod and chicken with chipotle adobo sauce).

Next year, we're headed to Alta, Utah February 23 to 28. In a change in format, we won't be renting a big house. Instead we'll stay at the Goldminer's Daughter Lodge where the price of a room includes breakfast and dinner. Everyone is responsible for their own reservation. As of this writing (March 30, 2024) we have two rooms with a bed available in each. Contact Jim Lawrie if you're interested.
