55th Reunion Seminars
Noel Augustyn and Warren Cooke expanded upon the fascinating seminars they presented at our 50th reunion.
See the videos of their presentations:
Noel Augustyn - The Supreme Court of the United States: Nine Justices, So Why 500 Staff? Apologies to Noel for not putting the camera on him at the beginning of the talk. I finally noticed the problem at 30 minutes into the talk.
Warren Cooke - Photographing Birds of the Americas, Part 2. See the original photos in their proper hues (color problem caused by lecture hall projector). Just open two browser windows, place them side-by-side and change photo when Warren changes photo.
Peter Temple organized a presentation by Tracy Dustin-Eichler, Director of the Dartmouth Center for Social Impact (DCSI), titled "Best Practices in Social Impact." The presentation and following discussion are directly related to the Class of 1968 Community Service Project.

An Invitation from Reunion Chair John Engelman
55th Reunion Update - January 2023
Our 55th reunion is scheduled for June 12-15, 2023. Please mark your calendars. While we aren’t returning to Dartmouth to relive our College years, we can return to where it all happened, and enjoy the reunion with classmates and friends who spent those transformative years at Dartmouth with us. The reunion promises to be a terrific time for all attending, but it will be even more memorable if you are able to join us.
As reunion chair, I’m currently looking for classmates who would be willing to join the reunion committee. Norman Silverman has signed on as reunion treasurer; Dan Hedges and Linc Eldredge have volunteered to help out. Any classmates who would like to help shape the reunion by joining the committee should contact me via email to John Engelman.
I’m also looking for ideas for reunion activities. Some suggestions that are already in the mix:
If you have any other suggestions, please forward them to me at the above email address.
That’s all for now. There will be frequent updates on reunion plans in forthcoming class newsletters, Alumni Magazine columns, on the Class Website, and email blasts from David Peck. We hope all of you will find your way back to Dartmouth for the reunion – June 12-15, 2023.
If you have not already done so, please mark your calendars for June 12-15, the dates for our 55th year reunion.
Although not all of our reunion activities have been finalized, we know at this time what some of the activities those attending will experience: a tour of the new buildings on the west end of the campus; a look at the works of art in the Hood Museum that the class or individual classmates have donated; special interest seminars led by classmates; a memorial service that will honor classmates who are no longer with us; back to class presentations by some of Dartmouth’s finest teachers; discussions with College officers who are setting the path for the future of Dartmouth; dancing to the Better Days Band as they cover songs from our era; the melodious tunes of The Aires; the presentation of the Give a Rouse Awards to outstanding classmates; and we hope we will have an opportunity to visit with President Hanlon and President-elect Sian Beilock.
The cost of attending is $500/person, not including housing and traveling expenses. For some of you, that cost may be a difficult stretch, but the class leadership has agreed to subsidize part of the cost upon request – (this will be done confidentially with only our class treasurer knowing who has requested this subsidy). The $500 fee will cover all meals, beverages, souvenirs, entertainment, and more. While we hope that all of you will be able to attend the entire reunion, we will make accommodations for those who can only attend one or two days of the festivities. Registration opens March 1st.
Probably nothing impacted our Dartmouth experiences to a greater extent than the people we met, the friends we made, and the lessons we learned, both inside and outside the classroom.
While we can’t relive those formative years, this reunion will provide an opportunity to reconnect with the College and with some of the people who so enriched our lives. We hope you will all make plans to attend the reunion. Look for more information from the Class and the College as we get closer to the dates of the reunion.
Cheers.
