Website User Guide

Features of the New Website

  • The sidebar menu has been replaced by a horizontal menu in the page header. The new menu provides access to index pages for each section of the website, e.g., Events, News, CSP, etc.
  • Each index page contains a menu that gives access to all other related pages within that section of the website.
  • The header menu on the home page will show links to most sub-pages as did the original sidebar menu.
  • A new color pallette will be implemented. The color pallette will match that recommended by Dartmouth. This container and its text are an example.
  • Be sure to browse the footer (found on every page - it's been there for years). The footer contains lots of useful links.

User Guide Index

Summary

The User Guide is intended to provide and overview of the website page layouts, instructions for use of the sidebar menu system and site map describing the contents of top-level pages and a summary of the contents of subpages. First, a few definitions:

  • Sidebar menu: the green boxes on the left side of every page in the website, labeled Home, Community Service Project, ..., 50th Reunion Retrospct.
  • Top-level page: the page you land on if you click one of the sidebar boxes, e.g., News, Events, etc.

Page Layout

All pages on the site have a similar layout: (1) image at the top of the page; (2) main menu at the top of each page; and (3) links to various locations both within and outside this website.

Site Map

The site map describes some of the key features on the top-level pages and gives a general description of sub pages.

  • Home page: key features of the Home page include (1) Class Headlines, an accordion menu which expands to show more information when you click on the topic; (2) Announcements, topics of current interest also laid out as an accordion menu; and (3) Recent Site Updates, another accordion menu showing the latest website updates by month.
  • Community Service Project: this page describes the CSP in detail and provides access to other CSP assets. The CSP Stories pages are of general interest and present summaries of classmates and other eligible contributors community service activities.
