2014 Talty Estate Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley 14.8%
The Estate Zinfandel comes from our own six acre, 54 year old head pruned and dry farmed vineyard in the heart of Dry Creek Valley. To intensify and concentrate the flavors, we drop fruit production in the vineyard to no more than 2 tons per acre.
Tasting Notes:
The 2014 Talty Estate Zinfandel is 7% Petite Syrah, 3% Carignane, 90% Zinfandel. With medium concentration to the eye and a clean and powerful intensity of black dried fruit, copious black pepper and lightly toasted oak on the nose, this vintage is a winner! On the palate you will experience soft supple tannins with classic acidity along with black, spicy fruit and lightly toasted oak. A perfectly balanced wine, medium in body, texture and complexity ending with a long lingering finish.
Notes - 2015 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Multi-layered and a shade deeper and richer than the Sonoma County Pinot Noir, enticing aromas of black cherry, red berries and currant. With high acidity and beautifully integrated tannins, this beautiful red wine end with a smooth, long, satisfying finish.
Notes - 2015 Alexander Valley Merlot
This is a concentrated and plush wine. The alluvial clay soil in the Alexander Valley imparts flavors of smooth, dark cherry, black currant, and plum. The round mouth feel is wrapped in caramel and mocha, finishing with integrated tannins and well-balanced acidity.
Notes - 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon
Balanced and impactful, our Napa Valley Cabernet is a splendid example of a quintessential California wine. Flavors of black cherry, licorice and black peppercorn dominate and are backed by smooth, sweet vanilla bean. Rich, medium tannins are backed by lively acid and evocative fruit character ending in a resounding finish of spice, coco nib and charred cedar.
Notes - 2015 Chardonnay
True to its cool-climate origins, it leads with beautiful stone-fruit flavors that manage to be rich and refreshing at the same time. A complex bouquet of ripe nectarine, green apple, tropical pineapple, and apricot opens up to fresh white peach framed by classic flavors of crème brûlée, lush vanilla bean and well integrated, toasty oak. An elegant creamy, lingering finish balanced by a firm underpinning of acidity.
Notes - 2016 Sauvignon Blanc
The aromatics leap out of the glass: Exotic lychee and lemongrass interwoven with Meyer lemon, grapefruit, white peach, and green apple. Round and full on the palate, the lush, fresh flavors echo the aromas with a firm underpinning of honey and citrus. Long, citrusy finish.
Winemaker Notes - 2015 Riesling
Ravines own unique style of Riesling: an elegant, dry style with delicate, complex aromatics, distinct minerality, and vibrant acidity. The gentle extraction methods allow the cool-climate character to shine. The nose displays white flower notes, citrus, white peach and apple aromas as well as distinct minerality. On the palate, the Finger Lakes acidic backbone provides great focus and liveliness. The aging on the fine lees has resulted in a gentle round texture supporting the floral and mineral elements of this Riesling. A long, clean finish promises a bright evolution of this wine.
